How to Relax at Night in 7 Easy Steps

With our jam-packed schedules and mile-long to-do lists, it’s so important to make sure that we’re getting some self-care in at night to keep our mental and physical well being in check, especially during that time of the month. You have to prioritize filling up your own cup before you can give to others and show up fully in all areas of your life. The key to having a really great day and waking up as your best self begins the night before, so we’re advocating for more nighttime rest with these seven easy tips on how to relax at night.

  1. Plan out your next day... Before you actually call it a day and bliss out for the night, we recommend planning out and writing your to-do list for the next day. This will help get all of your thoughts, tasks, and worries onto a piece of paper so they’re not swirling around in your mind all night putting a damper on your evening ritual.
  2. Tidy up your space... It’s difficult to relax when a space is messy so before you fully go into relaxation mode, do a quick clean up of your home. You don’t have to bust out the rubber gloves or do any major cleaning. Just set a timer for 10 minutes and go through your home and put things away. This will help set the scene for a tranquil night and it’ll also make your morning routine run more smoothly too.
  3. Go on a mini digital detox... Take this opportunity to also ditch your digital devices. Even if you just put your phone on airplane mode for one hour before bed, that alone will make a world of a difference on your well being. Don't worry. All of your texts, emails, and Instagram DMs will still be there for you to reply to in the morning. Allow yourself to just be present and spend some quality time with yourself.
  4. Take a bubble bath... When you really want to relax, skip your nightly shower and treat yourself to a nice bubble bath instead. Turn it into an entire spa-inspired experience by throwing a bath bomb in the water and maybe some rose petals too if you’re feeling fancy. Then light some candles, turn on some soothing music, and take a dip.
  5. Put on a sheet mask... If you don’t pamper yourself with a face mask, does it even count as self-care? We vote no. That’s why we suggest ending your day on a high note by putting on a Hydration Sheet Mask or a Vitamin C Sheet Mask for 15-20 minutes and let it work its magic while you catch up on your favorite Netflix show or immerse yourself in a good book. Your hydrated and glowy skin will thank you the next morning.
  6. Do some self-reflection... While your sheet mask does its job, you can also use that downtime to go inward. After a busy day, it will feel utterly blissful to just take a few minutes to be still, meditate, do some gratitude journaling, or just allow yourself to reflect on the day and set some positive intentions for the next day.
  7. Drink something warm and soothing... Whether you’re a chamomile tea kind of gal or a hot chocolate connoisseur, it’s safe to say that drinking something warm and nourishing at night is one of the best rituals ever. It signals to your mind that it’s time to throw your hair up into a bun, put on some cozy pajamas, and just relax.
